COFFEE STORY

The Amorim family grows coffee in Manhuaçu, in the Caparaó mountains of Minas Gerais, at around 1,100 metres above sea level. Their story with coffee began in 1989, when Zilma and Antônio Amorim started cultivating the land they had inherited and where they built their family home.Today, coffee remains a family project. Three of their children and their partners work alongside Zilma and Antônio, sharing both the work and the income. Antônio dedicates himself mainly to the fields, while Zilma personally oversees the drying of the coffee, carefully turning it several times throughout the day.Their farms are home to coffee as well as bananas, avocados, oranges, jabuticaba, plums, corn, beans and other crops, alongside cattle, pigs and chickens for the family’s own consumption. This small scale, diversified approach reflects a farm where coffee is deeply connected to family life and to the land they have cultivated for more than three decades.
