COFFEE STORY
From the highlands of Gedeb, in southern Ethiopia, this washed coffee offers an elegant and delicate cup, with notes of peach, black tea and jasmine. Its distinctive aromatic character reflects the extraordinary coffee-growing heritage of the region.
The coffee comes from Chelbesa, a renowned coffee-growing area where high altitude and favourable growing conditions contribute to the production of exceptional specialty coffee.
After harvesting, the ripest cherries are carefully selected, floated and depulped before undergoing dry fermentation in tanks without added water. The coffee is then washed and dried for approximately 10–15 days. This carefully managed process helps preserve the clarity and aromatic complexity of the final cup.
The Chelbesa washing station is operated by Ephtah Specialty Coffee, a company committed to building sustainable relationships with local coffee-growing communities. Its work focuses on quality, collaboration and recognising the important contribution of women to Ethiopia's coffee sector.
This coffee represents a refined expression of Ethiopian coffee, combining traditional cultivation with careful processing to highlight the distinctive qualities of its origin.
